The month of November is associated with being thankful. There are so many things I am thankful for – health, happiness, family, and friends near, far and here at Kaplan University.
It is also a time when many communities come together to help one another. A few University groups that help me tremendously are the Faculty Senate, the Student Advisory Board and our Alumni network.
The Faculty Senate works hard to review policies and procedures related to the academic quality of the University. This group's efforts are not always seen but the impact they have is immense. During this past year, they helped us revise the University late policy as well as our governance manual.
Similarly, our Student Advisory Board is amazing. This group provides a forum for student representatives to discuss academic related issues and make recommendations directly to me. Just this past week, they provided me with insights that I will use in our long range planning process. You can find out more information on the Student Advisory Board here.
The strength of our Alumni continually invigorates me. You have all overcome challenges and obstacles in order to earn your Kaplan University degree and have gone on to do wonderful things because of your education. In the coming months we will be forming an Alumni Council to further engage with you and help our University become even stronger. I look forward to personally meeting the Alumni Council, updating you on our accomplishments and hearing about your successes and about your ideas for the University. In the meantime, Kaplan University alumni should join the LinkedIn group as it's a great way to connect with fellow graduates, read up on current events and share resources.
These groups, among many others, keep me informed and able to serve our faculty and students in the best possible way.
What are you thankful for this year? I'd love to hear from you at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday!
