Lisa Gefen Sicilian is the Chief Administrative Officer for Kaplan Higher and Professional Education. She oversees top-level administrative functions, including accreditation, communications, human resources, legal and compliance, as well as real estate and facilities.
Lisa joined Kaplan in 2003 and has held several leadership positions, including Chief Administrative Officer for Kaplan University Group, and Senior Vice President of legal and human resources for Kaplan University. She is an accomplished executive with a diverse background, who is highly respected for her ethics and commitment to drive impactful cultural change.
Prior to joining Kaplan, Lisa served as Vice President and Corporate Secretary of United States Sugar Corporation, where she managed a staff of attorneys, supervised outside counsel and developed the strategic legal decision-making practice used by the corporation and its diverse subsidiaries. Also, she worked for AlliedSignal and the Washington, D.C. law firms of Sidley Austin and Verner, Liipfert, Bernhard, McPherson and Hand. Lisa began her career clerking for three judges at the Federal Regulatory Commission.
Lisa earned a Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Communications from Goucher College, where she graduated with Phi Beta Kappa honors. She is the founding facilitator of the Women President’s Organization, South Florida Chapter; a member of the Maryland and District of Columbia Bar Associations; and in-house counsel member of the Florida Bar. Lisa serves as a trustee on two boards of trustees; the Kaplan University Board of Trustees and holds the position of Board Secretary, as well as the Mount Washington College Board of Trustees. Lisa was honored in 2015 by the South Florida March of Dimes as a Woman of Distinction for making positive change happen in the community.
