Kaplan University has now become a common name used across the Maine law enforcement community. With three years behind them as the official sponsor of the Maine Chiefs of Police Association’s annual conference, Chiefs are impressed and looking to enroll their officers at Kaplan more than ever. The 2013 conference was bigger and better than it has ever been in the past and proudly Kaplan was front and center for the entire three day event!
Professionals from across the industry expressed interest in partnering with Kaplan University for externship placements as well as graduate hiring. Overall, they simply wanted to get more involved with KU-Maine. Again, Kaplan was recognized for its contributions and commitment to Maine’s law enforcement communities. Maine Chiefs Association’s Executive Director Bob Schwartz said, “The Maine Chiefs of Police Association again thanks Kaplan University for their sponsorship of our Annual conference. Departments, more than ever, are talking about Kaplan and the law enforcement programs you offer. I’m also very excited that Kaplan now offers a tuition discount to departments across the state, seeing many departments have tight budget constraints.”
As Kaplan University’s Maine campuses strive to offer the premier criminal justice degree programs in the state, it is essential to continue to build relationships with peers from across the police force. As of December 2012, Kaplan University began offering a 15% tuition discount to any employee of a police department who is an active member of the Maine Chiefs’ Association. Additionally, KU-Maine also made a commitment to pay for three police departments in the association whose Chief is unable to attend the winter meeting due to budget constraints. Kaplan pays for one night hotel room, conference registration as well as two tickets to the award banquet for each of the three selected departments. Kaplan will continue to partner with the MCOPA and sponsor the annual event for many years to come.
