Elaina Mahlan is a full-time faculty member with Kaplan University School of Nursing. Mahlan has been with Kaplan University since 2011. Mahlan serves as course lead, subject matter expert, and instructor for the Professional Leadership Transitions course in Kaplan University's RN-to-BSN program. Her responsibilities also include faculty credentialing oversight and service on various Kaplan University committees including academic appeals, math GEL, and program reaccreditation committees.
Mahlan has taught in various allied health programs including nursing at the diploma, undergraduate, and graduate level for multiple academic institutions. She spearheaded expanded initiatives to promote academic integrity. Her areas of publication include advanced education and career health for nurses as well as nursing education best practices.
Mahlan is a licensed registered nurse who began her nursing career with an Associate of Science in Nursing from Polk Community College. She attended Walden University for her Master of Science in Nursing degree where she specialized in nursing education. Mahlan also holds a Master of Science in Health Education from Kaplan University. She is recognized by the National League for Nursing as an expert nurse educator and is also certified as a faith community nurse.
