Ms. Monique Sluymers currently lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with her husband and two children. In her spare time, she does work for various nonprofit organizations. She also enjoys traveling back home to Canada to visit family and friends.
“Ms. Sluymers has been with Kaplan University since 2006 and has served in various roles including department chair. She has taken on various projects during that time, most recently having helped launch and manage the Kaplan University’s School of Information Technology Externship program. She currently teaches IT 489: Information Technology Externship and IT 441–446: Directed Studies, School of Information Technology.
Some of her previous accomplishments include being appointed the vice president of student affairs before the age of 30 and starting a nonprofit organization to benefit families touched by cancer. Her organization recently partnered with a national cancer support organization as its fundraising division. She has been appointed the chair of that organization. Ms. Sluymers brings her experiences and dedication into her classroom and she has earned a perfect 5.0 teaching score in the CS 114: Academic Strategies for the IT Professional course.”
