Joel D. Olson, PhD
Dr. Joel D. Olson has experience working with non-profit organizations as a leader in employee development, volunteer development, strategic planning, and fund development since 1990. Upon earning his doctorate degree in 1999, Dr. Olson joined Kaplan University, where he serves as a department chair and faculty member, managing the master's degree in management program.
Dr. Olson’s research interests center on virtual teams, online leadership education, and qualitative research. He has published journal articles in Academy of Management and Learning and Education, Performance Improvement Quarterly, Team Performance Management, Review of Business Information Systems, International Journal of Management and Information Systems, and The Qualitative Report. He has published conference proceedings from the Institute of Behavioral Applied Management's 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 conferences.
Dr. Olson serves as the principal investigator for two active research groups focused on virtual teams. He has mentored faculty research development resulting in 10 Kaplan University faculty members attaining a Research Qualified status.
He continues to serve churches from a variety of denominational backgrounds as a crisis consultant.
