The Student Nutrition Association of Kaplan (SNAK), a registered student organization with the Office of Student Life, held a virtual holiday food drive during the month of November.

Kaplan University faculty member and SNAK organization advisor Brooke Benton explains, “During the month of November, SNAK hosted a virtual holiday food drive within SNAK and the School of Health Sciences. All over America there are millions of people that will be missing meals and going hungry this holiday season. Students were asked to consider participating in order to help provide happy, traditional holiday meals for our neighbors in need. For those that wished to participate, they made a food donation at a food bank in their community. They were also asked to fill out a google doc form to document how much was donated. I am very happy to report that a total of $359 worth of food was donated during the month of November!”

The virtual holiday food drive aligns with SNAK’s mission: “The Student Nutrition Association of Kaplan University looks to provide a framework for meaningful student involvement, helps to foster careers in healthcare and nutrition science-related fields, and provides a place for students to interact with each other and other nutrition science professionals.”

SNAK currently has 144 active student members. Those interested in learning more about the student organization can check out the Office of Student Life section of the University website or email studentlife@kaplan.edu.
