Learning Center Experience
The Mu Psi Chapter of Delta Mu Delta International Honor Society in Business was installed at Kaplan University on September 8, 2014. The installation was held during a meeting of administration, chairs, and full-time faculty of the School of Business at Hollywood Beach, Florida. Six honorary members were inducted during the ceremony. These include Dean, Dr. Thomas Boyd, Dr. Joel Olson. Dr. Rita Gunzelman, Professor Pam DeLotell, and Professor Loretta Millam along with Dr. Jack Deem who was also recognized as the faculty sponsor for the organization.
The Delta Mu Delta International Honor Society in Business recognizes and encourages academic excellence among students pursuing a business education at qualifying colleges and universities. Membership in Delta Mu Delta offers students many benefits including lifetime recognition of outstanding academic achievement; networking opportunities; a scholarship program; and acknowledgement for federal employment.
Kaplan University became qualified by virtue of being awarded accreditation by the ACBSP. Previously, Kaplan University School of Business students were recognized through Sigma Beta Delta. Moving forward, Delta Mu Delta replaces Sigma Beta Delta.
To be considered for membership in the Mu Psi Chapter, undergraduate students must have completed 75 percent of the coursework toward their degree and be in the top 20 percent of their class with a GPA of at least 3.5. Master’s degree students must have completed at least 50 percent of the coursework toward their degree, while maintaining a GPA of at least 3.6 and also being in the top 20 percent of their class.
Initial invitations for membership will be emailed to eligible students in early November by the Office of Student Life. An information session is scheduled for October 23, 2014 at 4:00 pm ET as part of Student Life’s Student Organization Virtual Fair. Students and staff interested in learning more about the honor society are encouraged to attend.
