  • Kaplan University Shine On Teachers

"Every child deserves a champion - an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be." –Rita Pierson, Teacher, Counselor, Assistant Principal, and TED Talks Education debut lecturer, 1951-2013

Teacher. Educator. Instructor. Tutor. Professor. All of these describe those who dedicate their lives to informing, guiding, and inspiring the next generation. Whether you were playing school from an early age and always knew this was your calling or the decision to teach was ignited down the line and you're ready to make the switch now, education offers a rewarding career path for anyone who wants to give back and make a difference. In celebration of the men and women who dedicate their lives to teaching others, and in tandem with National Teacher Appreciation Week, Kaplan University is spotlighting five Kaplan University alumni and faculty with the Shine On Teachers series. This series will explore unique perspectives from real-life teachers, including the journey of sparking curiosity and instilling a want to learn in their students, what to keep in mind as a prospective teacher, and why witnessing your students be successful is the greatest reward of all.

We invite you to explore, connect, and share these videos and blog posts to better understand what it really means to teach and, more importantly, learn. We also encourage you to take a moment and acknowledge a teacher or mentor who encouraged you and include the hashtag #teachablemoments, whether it was to reach for your dreams or never give up hope, as we celebrate these educators who inspire us daily and the professionals who help guide the future leaders of the world.
