• CPS - AHRQ

As an outreach of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) works to improve the delivery and coordination of primary care health services—services that meet America’s need for first-rate prevention and care.

The AHRQ studies what’s working in American health care today—and what’s not. The findings of the agency help health-care providers and patient care professionals make critical decisions.

Research focuses on finding ways to improve the delivery of health care services and could be of interest to students pursuing a degree in health care administration. Advancements are measured in the improved quality of life and patient outcomes, lives saved, and more.

The agency also supports research to help patients make more informed decisions about their own health care. The AHRQ website features a consumer help column, e-newsletter, health care updates, events, and more.

For providers or those interested in health information management, the AHRQ has developed a new guide called Regional Health eDecisions: A Guide to Connecting Health Information Exchange in Primary Care, establishing a blueprint for assessing organizational readiness for connecting an electronic health record to a Regional Health Information Organization (RHIO).
