    Christopher Guyant, BA, MPA, Adjunct Faculty

    Mr. Guyant holds a Bachelor of Arts in Justice and Public Policy from North Carolina Wesleyan College, and a master’s in public administration from Central Michigan University. He has more than 18 years in law enforcement experience, and more than 10 years teaching and administrative experience in higher education.     

    Mr. Guyant has worked as an undercover narcotics officer, a deputy sheriff, a criminal investigative detective, and assistant deputy commissioner with a state law enforcement agency. In 1999 he received an award for his life saving heroics during Hurricane Floyd. Guyant has also served as an appointed member the State of North Carolina Governor’s Child Crime Fatality Prevention team, as well as the North Carolina Attorney General’s Financial Identity Fraud Task Force. He continues to teach a financial crimes block of instruction to sworn law enforcement officers within North Carolina. He has investigated hundreds of criminal investigations at both the state and federal level.   

    Guyant regularly presents at national conferences on the topics of insurance fraud and elder exploitation. He has recently assisted in research for the publication Journal of Insurance Fraud, 2010 and 2011 additions published by the Coalition of Insurance Fraud, Inc. Mr. Guyant’s professional memberships include the Association of Certified Fraud Examiner’s (ACFE).
