    Single-Parent Scholarship

    Overview:

    Kaplan University has established the Kaplan University Single-Parent Scholarship for new students enrolling in Kaplan University's select undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The graduate scholarship has been extended for students starting school between April 1, 2014, and August 31, 2014.


    Award:

    • $500 per-term tuition reduction, with a maximum value of $8,500 for a bachelor's degree or $4,500 for an associate's degree.
    • $250 per-course tuition reduction, with a maximum value of $2,500 for a graduate degree.

  • Eligibility Requirements Overview:

    • Must be a first-time enrollee in a graduate degree program at Kaplan University School of Business, School of Information Technology, School of Social and Behavioral Sciences (legal studies only), School of Health Sciences, or School of Nursing (including Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs). Certificate and continuing students, as well as graduate students enrolling in Concord Law School, School of Social and Behavioral Sciences (other than legal studies), School of General Education, and School of Graduate Education, are not eligible.
    • Must meet all current admissions requirements for the undergraduate and graduate degree program at Kaplan University.
    • Must provide proof that you are a single parent via one of the following ways:

            Verification via the FAFSA as a single parent

            Another form of documentation suitable to Kaplan Univesity that would
            prove single-parent status
    • Must attest to single-parent status at the time of application for the scholarship.
    • Must complete the respective Kaplan University Single-Parent Scholarship application.
    • An undergraduate student must take a minimum of 2 courses per term and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5; graduate students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0.
    • Must be continuously enrolled; withdrawing from school will result in ineligibility.
     

    Other Terms and Conditions:

    • All application materials and proof of eligibility must be provided on or before the time of enrollment (online students; prior to the fourth week of the first term for campus and learning center students) to be awarded the Scholarship. If all of the application materials and proof of eligibility are not provided to Kaplan University on or before the time of enrollment (online students; prior to the fourth week of the first term for campus and learning center students) the student is not eligible for the Kaplan University Single-Parent Scholarship and will be responsible for the total cost of tuition for enrollment.
    • If approved, the Scholarship will be applied as a tuition credit of $500 per term for undergraduate and $250 per course for graduate unless the student loses eligibility.
    • The Scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with any other Kaplan University discounts (including active-duty and veterans military tuition rates), grants, vouchers, or scholarships.
    • The Scholarship application must not contain any material that could be considered unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, indecent, sexually explicit, or hateful; or content that refers negatively to people or groups on the basis of their age, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender, national origin, handicap, disability, veteran status, or similar characteristics; or include material that is otherwise objectionable to the University.
