    Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

    Kaplan University established the Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship to award students who are members of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

    $500 per term, with total amount of award not to exceed $8,500.

  • Eligibility Requirements Overview:

    • Must be a first-time enrollee in a bachelor’s degree program at Kaplan University; continuing students are not eligible.
    • Must meet all current Kaplan University admissions requirements including GED or high school equivalent, and be fully accepted into one of the Kaplan University bachelor’s or advanced start degree programs.
    • Must be a verifiable member of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society of the Two-Year College at a previously attended institution of higher education.*
    • Must complete and submit the Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship application prior to or at the time of enrollment.
    • Starting in the first term, students must take a minimum of 2 courses per term and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5.
    • Must be continuously enrolled; withdrawing from school or not starting classes in the first term will result in ineligibility.

    Other Terms and Conditions:

    • All application materials and proof of eligibility must be provided on or before the time of enrollment for online students (prior to the end of the fourth week of the first term for campus and learning center students). If all of the application materials and proof of eligibility are not provided to Kaplan University on or before the time of enrollment for online students (before enrollment for campus and learning center students), the student will not be eligible for the Kaplan University Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship and will be responsible for the total cost of tuition.
    • If the student meets all eligibility criteria to qualify, the Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship will be applied at the end of the term as a tuition credit of $500.
    • This scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with any other Kaplan University discount, tuition reductions, voucher, grant, or scholarship, with the exception of the Accelerated Scholars Award.

    Continued Eligibility:

    • To remain eligible, undergraduate students must maintain a CGPA of 2.5 out of 4.0 for the duration of their program at Kaplan University to maintain the award. If the student was awarded the Scholarship and does not maintain a 2.5 CGPA, he or she will not be eligible to receive the Scholarship.
    • If a student fails and retakes a course, scholarship money will not be re-awarded for that course.
    • Must remain in good financial standing with Kaplan University.
    • All required documents must be on file at Kaplan University for the Scholarship to be awarded.
    • Must be continuously enrolled at Kaplan University. Students who withdraw will no longer be eligible for the Scholarship.
    *Award of Scholarship does not mean that submitted prior coursework is accepted for transfer credit toward a degree. To submit prior coursework for consideration as transfer credit toward completion of your Kaplan University degree, please refer to the Prior Learning Assessment policies and requirements.
