    Orlando Malate, DNP, MSN, MBA, RN, CNL, COI, Full-Time Adjunct Faculty, Online Graduate Nursing, Kaplan University School of Nursing

    Dr. Orlando Malate joined Kaplan University in 2014 as a faculty member in the MSN program teaching epidemiology, evidence-based practice, nurse executive courses, and leadership courses. Currently, Dr. Orlando Malate is the DNP mentor at Kaplan University that guides the DNP students from admission to graduation. In addition, he is responsible for the success of the DNP students in meeting their supervised practicum hours and DNP pro.

    Prior to joining Kaplan University, Dr. Malate was a faculty member at Saint Xavier University in Chicago, Illinois. He taught undergraduate adult clinical and online graduate clinical leader program. He also taught evidence-based practice, leadership courses, advanced pathophysiology, advanced pharmacotherapeutics, health systems, and health policy in different universities. His nursing experience focuses on medical telemetry specifically cardiology, oncology, pulmonary, and neurology. He had been in several positions in different organizations such as an educator, manager, clinical coordinator, and director.

    Dr. Malate received his BSN at University of Santo Tomas, Philippines. He received his MSN and MBA at Saint Xavier University. He had a terminal degree in Doctor of Nursing Practice at Walden University. His DNP scholarly project focuses on the impact of transitional discharge phone call in patient satisfaction. His work is currently being used in one of the major systems in Northeastern Illinois. In addition, he is a nationally certified Clinical Nurse Leader and a Certified Online Instructor.
