Learning Center Experience
Kellee Flurry joined Kaplan University in 2008 as a part-time instructor in the RN-to-BSN program, and in 2010 became a full-time member of this program. Her responsibilities include course delivery in the RN-to-BSN curriculum and has also taught in the MSN curriculum. She serves as the course lead faculty member for the BSN Directed Studies courses (NU 491–NU 495) and also teaches many other courses in the BSN curriculum. Kellee serves on several School of Nursing and University wide committees. In 2010 she assisted with the first induction for Kaplan University School of Nursing for Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) in Miami, Florida. Instructor Flurry is responsible for ensuring courses meet the standards of the AACN and assists the program in maintaining accreditation standards along with providing daily support to students and part-time faculty.
Professor Flurry has a wide variety of clinical specialty areas which include pulmonary, telemetry, ICU, home health care, NICU, and intermediate/well-baby nursery, telephone triage, and public relations. Professor Flurry has served as a preceptor, charge nurse, and liaison for community outreach and public relations at Forrest General Hospital. She has spent a total of 19 years working in the clinical areas at Forrest General Hospital and the last eight years teaching for Kaplan University online RN-to-BSN program. She has been a course developer for other online institutions as well as for Kaplan University.
Kellee received her BSN from William Carey University in 1991 and has been in the field of nursing for over 25 years. In 2007 she received an MSN in nursing leadership and health care systems from Grand Canyon University. She enrolled at William Carey University in the fall of 2014 to pursue her PhD in nursing education and healthcare administration. She will complete all requirements in 2018. Her dissertation focuses on job satisfaction and emotional intelligence among online nursing faculty. Kellee is a member of the Mississippi Nurses Association, American Nurses Association, and Sigma Theta Tau International.
