Announcing the Winner of the Kaplan University / ThanksUSA Military Spousal Scholarship

    news_213

At Kaplan University’s summer graduation ceremony, Mrs. Mary Siegel was awarded the Kaplan University / ThanksUSA Scholarship. This scholarship was given in honor of the spirit and sacrifice of the military families and as is the mission of ThanksUSA – to express all of our gratitude.

Mrs. Siegel has been active in supporting her fellow military families as a volunteer. Mary knows first hand the challenges of a military spouse. While raising their two children, she has maneuvered through multiple deployments and moves. Mary felt education was key in expanding her desire to work with military families and wounded warriors. She has just completed her associate’s degree and with the full scholarship at Kaplan will continue on to achieve her bachelor’s degree in Human services or a related field. Mary’s plan is to use her education to “give back” but clearly it would be more appropriate to say “to give more”.

The scholarship was awarded by Lieutenant General Normand G. Lezy, USAF retired – who commented – “Any trooper will tell you, we could not get our mission done without the unfaltering support of the military spouses – they are the unsung heroes behind the great military establishment we have in this country”.

Mrs. Siegel was accompanied at the ceremony by her husband, Sergeant Robert Siegel, who is the Special Operations Recruiting Commander at Fort Steward, and their two children Paige & Sadie.

Welcome to Kaplan University Mary – we are so proud to have you here.
