    Gus Gomez

    Gustavo (Gus) Gomez’s professional experience includes nearly 20 years in the manufacturing and petrochemical industries. During his tenured years with Union Carbide Corporation, he implemented a JIT program among local suppliers of raw materials. He also implemented a Spent Glycol Recycling program (heavy processed glycols that had to be treated at the waste treatment plant and later disposed into the ocean) with savings of over $1 million/year in a 3-year contract with a recycling company.


    Dean’s Message

    During his nearly 15 years in the educational field (9 of which he was employed at Kaplan University as an adjunct), he has taught over 12 different courses, from IT 133 through IT 461. His areas of inclination include database technologies (MS Access, MS SQL Server, and Oracle), computer programming (VB and C#), Microsoft Office, Internet Technologies, and project management. He is currently the CL for IT 234, IT 350, IT 358, and IT 452 and has been the CL for IT 271, IT 428, and IT 457 in the past. He developed IT 271, IT 457, and IT 461 a few years ago and has contributed ideas among colleagues in the development of IT 193/234/293/350/458/460/461. Gus also was a member of the IT Mission Statement Committee.

    Gus is currently under contract with Pearson Publishing as a contributor author providing ancillary material for one of their top selling database books. He will also be authoring a series of video tutorials on SQL for Pearson. Conversation has already started with Pearson to follow a similar authoring arrangement with other IT-related books.
