    HR Certification Preparation Course

    The Indianapolis campus is pleased to announce its partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the largest association devoted to human resource management, to offer courses to help HR professionals prepare for SHRM's new competency-based certification: the SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) and SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credentials.

    SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP Fall 2016 Class
    Start Date: September 12, 2016
    End Date: November 28, 2016
    Duration: 12 Weeks (no breaks), 36 instructional hours; Monday evenings 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm
    Location: Kaplan University Indianapolis Campus; instructor led through Adobe Connect allowing students to attend in the classroom or via Adobe Connect off campus after the first class

    Course Cost
    The cost of the course is $1,175.00 and includes the SHRM Learning System for SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP modules, online learning center, access to the Online Resource Center, instructor handouts, and 36 hours of classroom instruction. SHRM members, Kaplan University students, and Kaplan Corporate Partners are eligible to receive a $200.00 discount.

    To earn your SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP you must meet specific educational and work experience criteria at the time you submit your application in order to be eligible to sit for the exam. These requirements include:

    • Applicants must show that they have worked in an HR role for more than 1,000 hours within a calendar year, which equates to 1 year of experience.
    • HR experience may be in an HR exempt or nonexempt capacity.
    • Applicants with a graduate degree (or global equivalency) in HR must currently be employed in an HR role.
    • HR experience may be classified directly, as working in an HR role, or indirectly, by consulting, educating or researching HR practices linked specifically to human resource management.
