    Dr. Matthew Caines, Academic Department Chair, Master of Health Informatics and Health Information Management, Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management, and Medical Billing and Coding Certificate

    Dr. Matthew Caines is academic department chair for the Master of Health Informatics, Master of Health Information Management, Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management, and Medical Billing and Coding Certificate programs. He works in conjunction with course leaders and the curriculum team to ensure the currency and relevance of the degree programs, focusing on congruence with national standards. 

    Dr. Caines brings to Kaplan University's School of Health Sciences a notable background as public health practitioner for program development and management, and effective professoriate practice at the doctoral, master, and undergraduate levels within the United States and abroad. Before joining Kaplan University, Dr. Caines had a multifaceted research experience in qualitative and quantitative approaches with disease prevention and health program design.

    He possesses the Doctor of Health Education and Master of Public Health degrees from A. T. Still University and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a neuroscience focus from Wilkes University. Dr. Caines has earned the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) credential and the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) credential.
