Your Business Data Can be a Cell Phone View Away!

Cloud computing, or computing in an IT cloud, seems to be capturing the attention of some very prominent names. Steve Ballmer of Microsoft explains that the cloud makes computing more seamless and more transparent. (Meier, 2013). International Data Corporation's top ten technology predictions for 2014 suggests that spending on cloud computing will exceed $100 billion (Columbus, 2013).

Your accountant may be asking what all the "high end" hype is about. To best understand the concept of computing in the clouds, imagine that you are welcomed to a gated IT community. You share hardware with your IT neighbors. In your case, you wish to use that hardware to support a popular cloud accounting application called FreshBooks. More details about FreshBooks can be found at FreshBooks Details.

FreshBooks' cloud accounting application provides the means to help you to get financially organized. FreshBooks allows ready access to data such as the status of online payments, expense tracking, time-tracking and accounting reports, and taxes. Additional service highlights include customizing invoices, sending late payment reminders, automatic and recurring-expense tracking, managing different rates for multiple projects, and profit/loss reports.

To meet your desire to be high "tech" at an affordable cost, note that data and software are accessible online, anytime, anywhere, from any device. Your hard drive is no longer the central hub and your data is secure and backed up for you. Your business data is a cell phone view away!

Shaw (2014) explains the benefits of joining a cloud computing gated communities, which includes:

    Increased capacity

Thanks to their scale, long history, and extensive experience, cloud providers often establish operating capacity, security, and disaster recovery systems that are much more effective than what individual, client organizations could create on their own.

    Lower Costs
Your capital expenditures can be reduced because you no longer need to buy hardware to update obsolete servers and because there are no longer large up-front expenses in the form of hefty software licenses.

    Peace of Mind
At the end of the day cloud computing storage offers more peace of mind. When your systems are hosted in the cloud, both server data and that on your desktops and laptops are backed up automatically and securely on a consistent and timely basis.
