Learning Center Experience
Dr. Crystal Cooley Gifford, Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®) has served students, clients, and businesses in the financial industry since the late 1990s. She currently works as a full-time assistant professor of finance for Kaplan University. Before coming to Kaplan University, she worked full time for a public university in Ohio. She also served as an adjunct faculty member for her local state university from 1999 to 2008, while working in financial services practice.
As president and founder of The Empowered Wealthy Woman, Dr. Gifford offers investment and financial planning services to help entrepreneurs build residual revenue streams into their business models and create a powerful relationship with money. Holding insurance licensing in Ohio and Florida, Dr. Gifford specializes in life insurance planning and wealth management for individuals and businesses. Her primary focus is now on helping professional athletes set themselves up for a lifetime of financial security. In addition, she uses her CFP® designation to serve clients around the globe with financial and business planning.
Dr. Gifford earned a DBA in Accounting from Argosy University February 2008. She earned a MFE from Ohio University in 2002. This education serves as a background for her vast experience and knowledge in the financial industry where she serves both the academic and practical arenas.
Dr. Gifford's research interests have included various business topics such as international pricing and hedging strategies, accounting evolution, golden parachutes, and university assessment and performance measures. More involved research projects have included finance and accounting integration for curriculum development to meet evolving demands of employers as well as to prepare students for practical certifications. Her most recent research includes examining the connection between networking and success for finance professionals.
