Learning Center Experience
Dr. Wright joined Kaplan University in January of 2008, where she has served as an adjunct professor, the Assistant Academic Chair in the Educational Studies Department of School of Arts and Science, now known as the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, Faculty Coordinator, and currently serves as a full-time professor. Lisa received a Bachelor of Health Science degree in physical therapy from the University of Missouri, and is a Licensed Physical Therapist. She has worked as a clinician with young children for over 20 years in rehabilitation hospitals, private practice, early intervention programs, and the school system. She has a Master of Education and PhD in Early Childhood Special Education from the University of Missouri. Lisa has taught in Early Childhood, Special Education and Physical Therapy at the University of Missouri for 11 years, and her research area of interest is interventions for young children with autism.
Dr. Wright regularly presents at the local and national level on topics ranging from interventions for children with autism to college teaching pedagogy. Most recently she has presented on Linking Assessment to Early Intervention at the National Association for the Education of Young Children Professional Development conference in Providence, Rhode Island in June, 2011. Dr. Wright recently completed work on the State of Missouri's Early Intervention Training Modules as an invited contributor to the redesign. Dr. Wright has been honored for her teaching in a number of manners from being chosen as Outstanding Faculty for the Honorary Coaches Program, Global Scholars Award, Dean's Award and consistently receives the Teaching High Flyer Award from student evaluations.
Dr. Wright's professional membership includes the National Association for the Education of Young Children and the Council for Exceptional Children.
