The CareerNetwork is available to all active students, graduates and alumni of Kaplan University. It is designed as a social platform for our students and graduates to collaborate with each other and the Career Services team. Career Services monitors the Career Network from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm ET to answer specific job search questions. In addition, students can search for jobs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The job tracker has been created specifically for Kaplan University students and focuses on positions based on a student’s program of study and geographic location. The tracker houses job posts from CareerBuilder and its partners, thus offering a large number of available jobs for students to view.
The job-tracker feature built into the CareerNetwork will record each student or graduate’s specific job search activity. Students can review how many jobs they have looked at, see how many they have applied for, and keep track of the positions for which they are interviewing. This data is beneficial in helping applicants follow up on potential leads and gauge their actual efforts within the job search. It also assists in conversations with a student’s assigned Career Specialist, who can give additional advice on resumes, interviewing skills, and networking assistance.
In addition to its social function, the CareerNetwork allows students and graduates to create a professional profile that offers the opportunity to:
- Complete a work interest assessment
- Build a resume and cover letter using the online tool, Optimal Resume
- Schedule time to meet with a Career Specialist to discuss your individualized job search
- Update current employment status
- Apply for employment opportunities geared toward their program of study and geographic area
