A Message From Betty Vandenbosch, PhD, President

  • CED - Betty Vandenbosch
    Presenting at the CED Conference

On April 14, I was honored to participate in the Committee for Economic Development (CED) Spring Policy Conference held annually in Washington, D.C. CED is a non-profit, non-partisan, business led public policy organization that delivers well-researched analysis an reasoned solutions to our nation’s most critical issues, including education.

At the conference, I gave a keynote address and participated in a panel discussion entitled, Business and Higher Education Partnerships: Skilling the Workforce.

My fellow panelists, Tom McInerney, CEO of Genworth Financial; Kathleen Powell, President-elect of the National Association of Colleges and Employers; Teresa Carlson, VP of Worldwide Public Sector with Amazon Web Services; and Tom Murray, Director of Education Programs with Snap-On, along with moderator Kevin Carey, Director of Education Policy Program for New America, began to scratch the surface of what companies and educators should be doing.

Kaplan University is at the center of the work to improve the skills of Americans. For example, our professional competencies help to prepare you with the skills employers are looking for and our competency report gives you an opportunity to share your mastery of them.
