all about celebrating being a nurse who leads the charge for health and
wellness for our nation and world. This year, the focus is on how nurses
personally manage their own health and wellness. We are aware that compassionate
care can, at times, become overwhelming for nurses, especially in
times of a nursing shortage and the growing demands of the health care
Kaplan University, we are kicking off the 2017 Nurses Week celebration
by showing the award-winning movie The American
Nurse at our campuses. This
movie profiles five nurses across several roles including: women's health,
military nursing, correctional health and hospice care, elder care, and home
care. The nurses in the movie are true to the spirit of compassionate care.
on our campuses in Iowa,
Nebraska, and Maine, nursing
students and faculty are planning a host of events to honor nurses who
work for our numerous clinical partners and provide preceptoring and mentorship
to our prelicensure and graduate nursing students. These students work in
hospitals and health care centers, ambulatory health, client/patient's'
homes, and the community and public health arenas. Campus-based Nurses Week
events planned by Kaplan School of Nursing include: blood drives, chair
massages, and a proclamation by the Nebraska Mayor.
University proudly sends out greetings to our nursing student body and to more
than 4,000 alumni across the U.S.
and around the globe. We commend you as you carry out your roles as
BSN-prepared registered nurses, nurse informatics, nurse educators,
nurse executive leaders, and nurse practitioners in family and
gerontologic care. And, we give a special recognition to more than 150 faculty who are master's
and doctorally prepared nurses. Not only do they provide exceptional teaching
for over 3,000 Kaplan University nursing students, they also carry our
innovative nursing practices in their community.

Kaplan University’s School of Nursing is proud to participate in National Nurses Week, an annual event sponsored by the American Nurses Association (ANA). It’s our chance to celebrate and say thanks to all our fellow nurses, and to let you know how much we appreciate everything you do.
This year’s theme is “Nursing: The Balance of Mind, Body, and Spirit.” The campaign is focused on celebrating nurses, like you, who lead the charge for health and wellness. We invite you to take our self-assessment to provide you with a sense of how well you currently care for your needs. Kaplan University also invites you to thank a fellow nurse by sharing an eCard or downloading the certificate of appreciation for that special nurse. Thank you to all of our nurses for making a difference in patient’s lives every day. We wish you all a happy Nurses Week.
"Kaplan University has been very supportive of Nurses Week activities. Last year for Nurses Week I had the honor of receiving the Faculty Daisy Award. This was truly an honor. This award celebrates nursing faculty for their inspirational influence on the nurses of today and tomorrow.
